Who they were

Near Madrid in Spain, Blessed María del Refugio (María Gabriela) Hinojosa y Naveros and five companions, virgins of the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary and martyrs, who, during the persecution, although enclosed in their monastery, were arrested by militiamen through a trick and went to meet Christ their Bridegroom, shot dead.

Among those named is Blessed Mariángela (Martina) Olaizola y Garagarza, a virgin of the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary and martyr.

The miracles

As a martyr she was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 18 November as a Visitation nun shot near Madrid during the persecution.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
