Who they were

Elisabetta (Elizabeth) Prout, in religion Maria Giuseppe di Gesù, founded the Congregation of the Sisters of the Most Holy Cross and Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ; she was born at Shrewsbury, England, on 2 September 1820 and died at Sutton, England, on 11 January 1864. Pope Francis recognised her heroic virtue on 21 January 2021.

The miracles

The Church has not yet approved a miracle in this cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Church recognised her heroic virtue in 2021.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
