José Giménez López
Salesian priest, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
The decree on martyrdom records that he was born in 1904, was ordained priest in 1934 and was killed on 9 December 1936. The Roman Martyrology commemorates him at Picadero de Paterna in the territory of Valencia as a priest of the Salesian Society and martyr. He was beatified on 11 March 2001 by Pope John Paul II.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology says he completed the glorious trial for Christ during the persecution against the faith.
The cause
The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.
