Who they were

Ion Kostist was born at Tzazo in Romania on 29 June 1556 and came to Italy at eighteen in 1574, a bridge between East and West. He became a Capuchin, Brother Jeremiah, drawing his whole inner life from prayer.

For forty years without a break he nursed the sick with charity and joy, saying that one must imitate the generosity of the heavenly Father and give freely what one has freely received.

The miracles

The Dicastery's biography does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

A Romanian Capuchin who nursed the sick for forty years with charity and joy.

The cause

Jeremiah of Wallachia has been beatified; the cause continues. Favours received, and offers of help, go to the postulation, the office that carries the cause forward: Capuchins of Italy: Blessed Jeremiah of Wallachia.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. Reporting one begins with the postulation.
