Jacques Ledoyen
Priest of the diocese of Angers, martyr of the French Revolution
Who they were
Jacques Ledoyen was a priest of the diocese of Angers who was guillotined there during the French Revolution, with François Peltier and Pierre Tessier, for having kept faith with his priesthood. He was beatified on 19 February 1984 by Pope John Paul II, with Guillaume Repin and the ninety-eight other martyrs of Angers.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
He was one of the ninety-nine put to death at Angers and Avrillé in 1793 and 1794 for holding to the Catholic faith.
