The Vatican record

Who they were

Isabella Sánchez Romero, in religion Ascensión de San José, was a professed nun of the Order of St Dominic, killed in hatred of the faith during the Spanish Civil War at Huéscar, Spain, on 17 February 1937. Pope Francis recognised her martyrdom on 11 December 2019.

The miracles

Because her martyrdom has been recognised, no miracle is required for her beatification.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Church recognised her as a martyr in 2019.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
