Who they were

Iacobus Calatrava Romero was born on 20 December 1913 in the city of Granada, and was a layman, a lawyer and a member of Catholic Action.

He was killed at Pozo de Cantavieja on 26 September 1936, and was beatified on 25 March 2017 by Pope Francis, among the companions of José Álvarez-Benavides de la Torre.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The decree on martyrdom in the Acta Apostolicae Sedis records that he was killed at Pozo de Cantavieja on 26 September 1936.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
