Hyvarnion
Feast: 5 December (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Hyvarnion appears in the late medieval legend of St Hervé, which Butler says cannot be used to reconstruct Hervé's true history. There he is a British bard, driven from home by the Saxons, who charmed the court of King Childebert in Paris with his music but cared nothing for applause.
After two or three years he withdrew to Brittany, married Rivanon, and became the father of the blind boy Hervé, dying while his son was still a baby.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
Remembered in Breton legend as the bard father of St Hervé.
