Who they were

At Novara di Sicilia, Saint Hugh, abbot, who, sent by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, began the Cistercian Order in this land and in Calabria.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 17 November as the abbot sent by Saint Bernard who began the Cistercian Order in Sicily and Calabria.
