Honoratus
second bishop of Toulouse
Feast: 22 December (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Little is known of Honoratus, and what little there is comes mostly from the legend of Saint Firminus, which the historian Duchesne called one of the most fabulous of its kind. He appears second in the episcopal list of Toulouse, between Saint Saturninus, martyred about 250, and Rodianus, who died in 358; the legend credits him with instructing and consecrating as bishop Firminus, son of the Spanish senator Firmus, who had himself been converted by Saint Saturninus.
His body was found in 1265 in the basilica of Saint-Sernin, and his name was added to the calendar under 22 December in a breviary copied in 1404.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
