Who they were
Saint Gerburga, also known as Heriburg, was the first abbess of the convent of Nottuln near Münster in Westphalia, in the 8th century. Nothing is known about her beyond her name, preserved only in the monastery's records. The religious community was founded by her own brother, Saint Ludger, bishop and one of the apostles of Saxony. Her feast is kept on 16 October.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: she has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
First abbess of Nottuln, founded by her brother Saint Ludger, apostle of Saxony; feast 16 October.
