Who they were
Near Lier in Brabant, in present-day Belgium, Saint Gummarus, who, a soldier devoted to God, built with his own goods an oratory in this place, where he was later laid to rest.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 11 October as a soldier devoted to God who built an oratory at Lier, where he was buried.
