Guibert de Gembloux
Belgian monk and nobleman
Feast: 23 May (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Near Gembloux in the territory of Liège in Lotharingia, in present-day Belgium, the deposition of Saint Guibert, monk, who, having left military life and embraced the discipline of monastic life, built a monastery on land he owned, and then withdrew to the monastery of Gorze in Lotharingia.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 23 May as a former soldier who founded the monastery of Gembloux and retired to Gorze.
