Who they were
At Nantes in Brittany, Saint Gohard, bishop and martyr, who, while celebrating a solemn Mass with the people in the cathedral, died together with many of the faithful, pierced by the arrows of the godless Northmen as he was singing “Sursum corda”.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 24 June as a bishop of Nantes killed by Northmen's arrows with many of the faithful while celebrating Mass in his cathedral.
