Gerasimus of the Jordan
Christian monk and abbot
Feast: 5 March (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
In Palestine on the banks of the Jordan, Saint Gerasimus, anchorite, who, in the time of the Emperor Zeno, brought back to the true faith by Saint Euthymius, did great works of penance, offering to all who trained in the monastic life under his guidance a blameless model of discipline and life.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 5 March as an anchorite on the banks of the Jordan who gave his monks a blameless model of discipline and life.
