Gerardus van Serradiconti
Feast: 1 April (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Gherardo was a fellow monk of the Blessed Alberto of Sassoferrato, remembered together with him though from the nearby town of Serra de' Conti rather than Sassoferrato itself. There he cared for souls and tempered his spirit with the rigours of eremitic life, dying in 1367 at the fine age of eighty-seven. He too is honoured in the Camaldolese Order.
His remains were placed and venerated in the Romanesque church known as 'Le Mòje', a fine medieval building similar to Santa Croce at Sassoferrato and restored to its original lines some years ago. It is not known for certain why he came to be commemorated jointly with Blessed Alberto, though the shared period, condition and aims of the two monks, and the two similar churches associated with their names, may explain it.
The miracles
