Francisco Pérez Godoy
Feast: 15 July (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
The passion of the Blessed martyrs Ignatius de Azevedo, priest, and thirty-eight companions of the Society of Jesus, who, while sailing to the missions in Brazil on a ship called the Saint James, were attacked by pirates and, out of hatred of the Catholic religion, run through with sword and lance.
Among those named is Blessed Francisco Pérez Godoy, religious.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 15 July among the Jesuit companions of Ignatius de Azevedo, killed by pirates on the way to the missions in Brazil.
