Who they were
At Gallese near Viterbo, Saint Famianus, hermit, who, a native of Cologne, gave his goods to the poor and, after holy pilgrimages made while wearing the Cistercian habit, died in this place.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 8 August as a hermit from Cologne who gave his goods to the poor and died at Gallese.
