Who they were
At Chalcedon in Bithynia, in present-day Turkey, Saint Euphemia, virgin and martyr, who under the emperor Diocletian and the proconsul Priscus, having overcome many torments for Christ, reached the crown of glory through strenuous combat.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: she has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 16 September as a virgin martyred at Chalcedon under Diocletian.
