Eugenia Ravasco
Italian Roman Catholic nun (1845-1900)
Feast: 30 December (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Eugenia Ravasco was born in Milan on 4 January 1845, the third of six children of a Genoese banker; her mother died in 1848 and her father in 1855. Moved by compassion for those who suffer, from adolescence she gave generously to the poor.
Her rule of life was 'to live abandoned in God and in the hands of Mary Immaculate'. She founded the Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary for the education of girls and the care of the sick and children.
