Who they were
Near Tongeren in Brabant, in present-day Belgium, Saint Eberigisil, bishop of Cologne and martyr, who, having set out for Poitiers, was killed on the road by brigands while attending to his pastoral duties.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 24 October as a bishop of Cologne killed by brigands on a pastoral journey.
