Drausius
bishop of Soissons
Who they were
Drausius (Drausin) was educated by St Anseric, bishop of Soissons, became archdeacon and then bishop of Soissons. A zealous pastor and preacher, he lived almost constantly fasting despite painful illness.
He founded a monastery for men at Rethondes on the Aisne and, with help from Leutrude, wife of Ebroin, a convent of nuns at Soissons whose church was dedicated in 664. Butler places his death on 5 March about 674. His tomb was a place of pilgrimage, and his sarcophagus is now in the Louvre.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
