Dominic Loricatus
Italian Roman Catholic saint
Feast: 14 October (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At San Severino in the Marche, Saint Dominic, called Loricatus for the iron belt with which he had girded his loins, priest of the Camaldolese Order, who, ordained through simony, then became a hermit monk and, a disciple of Saint Damian, led a harsh life of austerity and penance.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 14 October as a Camaldolese hermit, disciple of Saint Peter Damian, who wore an iron belt in penance.
