Dodo of Haske
Feast: 30 March (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Dodo was made to marry by his parents, but after his father's death his wife and mother entered a convent and he joined the Premonstratensians. With his abbot's leave he lived as a hermit, first in a lonely place for four years and then at Asch (Hasch) in Friesland, where he increased his penances. He had a gift of healing.
In old age he was killed by a falling wall, and marks like Christ's wounds were said to have been found on his body. Butler thinks the wounds were probably caused by the falling masonry, and that the story of his reforming Frisian customs may belong to another man of the same name.
