Daniel the Stylite
5th-century Christian saint
Feast: 11 December (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At Constantinople, Saint Daniel, called the Stylite, priest, who, after living the monastic life and overcoming many difficulties, following the example of Saint Simeon, lived on top of a high column for thirty-three years and three months until his death, undaunted by the force of cold, heat or wind.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 11 December as a priest who lived on a column at Constantinople for thirty-three years.
