Feast: 7 April (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were

Born at Sestri Levante in Liguria in 1337, he showed from a young age a deep devotion to Mary, and at sixteen entered the Mercedarian Order, dedicated to ransoming Christian slaves. After his novitiate and profession he studied theology and philosophy, was ordained priest, and became known for his eloquence; in 1380 he was elected provincial of the Order in Lombardy, working for its reform, and in 1395 became bishop of Savona and Noli. In 1405 Pope Innocent VII made him a cardinal, and he continued to travel widely as a preacher of the Gospel and of devotion to Our Lady of Mercy.
