Who they were
Alban Butler, following Bishop Leslie, described Conran as a seventh-century bishop in the Orkneys, famous there for his austere and holy life.
The 1956 editors keep that notice only as an example of how fiction becomes accepted as fact: they find no evidence at all that any St Conran was known in the Orkneys, and the Bollandists set the name aside for lack of material.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
Remembered, on very weak evidence, as an early bishop in the Orkneys.
