Colombin de Lure
Who they were
Colombino, also called Colombin or Colombano the Younger, was a 7th-century abbot and disciple of Saint Columbanus of Bobbio who succeeded Saint Deicolus as abbot of Lure, near Besancon. He is known only from a few mentions in the Life of Saint Deicolus, which recount that he held Deicolus in his arms at the moment of his death on 18 January 625.
His own veneration never spread beyond the monastery and diocese of Besancon, but is attested by a litany from the second half of the 11th century that invokes him together with Deicolus; his relics were later translated more than once and, along with those of Deicolus, were kept in the abbey of Lure until the French Revolution.
