Canon of the collegiate church of Le Dorat, martyr of the French Revolution
Who they were
He was a canon of the college of canons of Le Dorat in the diocese of Limoges, born on 11 June 1735. Arrested in the French Revolution because he was a priest and held on the prison ships off Rochefort, he died for Christ on 7 September, gravely ill from hunger.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology for 7 September names him a blessed priest and martyr who died on a prison ship anchored off Rochefort.
The cause
The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.
