Christian of Himmerod
Feast: 4 February (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Christian was a Benedictine monk of Himmerod who lived in the twelfth century. Before entering the monastery he had been a page to the duke of Laos. As a religious he was remembered for his simplicity and spirit of penance, and for his devotion to the Virgin Mary.
He died at the end of the twelfth century, and tradition says the Virgin appeared to him at the moment of his death. The Benedictine martyrologies keep his memory on 4 February.
