Caldéold
Frankish saint and bishop of Vienne
Feast: 14 January (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Cadeoldo (also written Cadeoldus, Caldeolus, Edaldus, Caldéold, Eold or Elald) was bishop of Vienne in the 7th century, listed thirty-second among the city's bishops, after Saint Editto (or Ecdico) and before Saint Dodoleno. He appears in the ancient catalogue of the bishops of Vienne preserved in Ado's Chronicle, and his episcopate is said, in an 11th-century episcopal list, to have begun in the time of Clovis II.
His signature appears on a privilege granted to the abbey of Saint-Denis; he is remembered as a promoter of monastic life in his diocese. He is honoured in French martyrologies with a feast on 14 January.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
