Feast: 15 January (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At Lyon in France, the passing of Saint Bonitus, bishop of Clermont-Ferrand, who, from prefect of Marseille, was raised to the episcopate after his brother Saint Avitus; leaving that office ten years later, he lived in the monastery of Manglieu; he died at Lyon, returning from a pilgrimage to Rome.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 15 January as a bishop of Clermont-Ferrand who died at Lyon returning from a pilgrimage to Rome.
