Who they were
At Fara near Cingoli in the Marche, Saint Bonfilius, who, after being bishop of Foligno, spent ten years in the Holy Land; having then returned to Italy, he lived as a monk in the monastery of Storaco, of which he had formerly been abbot, and died, at last, in solitude.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 27 September as a bishop of Foligno who spent ten years in the Holy Land and died a monk in solitude.
