Bonavita da Lugo
Feast: 1 March (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Bonavita was a blacksmith and Franciscan tertiary who lived and died at Lugo, west of Ravenna. He was often lost in prayer wherever he was. He gave his clothes to a freezing beggar and walked home nearly naked, gave away his newly mended shoes, fed the hungry, visited prisoners and helped to bury the dead.
He is said to have put out a great fire in Lugo with the sign of the cross, though Butler says the evidence for such wonders is not very satisfactory, and that his veneration seems never to have been formally approved. Butler places his death in 1375.
