Who they were

In the same place, Saint Besas, martyr, who, a soldier, trying to restrain those who were insulting the earlier martyrs, was denounced to the judge and, standing firm in the faith, was beheaded.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 27 February as a soldier who was beheaded for defending the martyrs from insult and standing firm in the faith.
