Bernold
Roman Catholic Bishop of Utrecht and saint
Feast: 19 July (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At Utrecht in Lotharingia, in the territory of present-day Holland, Saint Bernold or Bernulf, bishop, who freed churches and monasteries from the yoke of the powerful, founded many churches and introduced the Cluniac customs into the monasteries.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 19 July as a bishop of Utrecht who freed churches from the powerful and brought the Cluniac customs to the monasteries.
