Bernardo de Rebolleda
Feast: 30 December (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Bernardo de Rebolledo, a Mercedarian noted for his learning, charity and zeal in preaching the Gospel, was named a redeemer of the Order together with Giovanni de Luna, a descendant of the counts of Morada who in 1400 had left the vanities of the world to enter the Mercedarian convent of San Lazzaro in Saragossa and lived there in exemplary modesty and austerity. Sent on a redemption mission in 1422, they were sailing toward Africa when Moorish pirates captured them and took them to Marseille in France, where, after various tortures, they won the eternal triumph of martyrs for the faith of Christ.
The Order celebrates them on 30 December.
The miracles
