Who they were

Bernardo Francisco de Hoyos was born on 21 August 1711 at Torrelobatón near Valladolid into a family of local nobility. Taught by the Jesuits, he pressed his family and the Provincial to let him enter the novitiate, which he did on 11 July 1726, not yet fifteen.

Ordained on 2 January 1735, he is known above all for his ardent devotion to the Sacred Heart and his constant promotion of it until his early death that year.

The miracles

The Dicastery's biography does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

A young Jesuit who spent his short life spreading love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The cause

Bernard of Hoyos has been beatified; the cause continues. Favours received, and offers of help, go to the postulation, the office that carries the cause forward: Jesuits of Spain: the cause of Blessed Bernardo de Hoyos.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. Reporting one begins with the postulation.
