Berenwald
Feast: 21 December (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Saint Berenwald, also Byrnwald and Beornwald, was an 8th-century priest honoured at Bampton, with a feast day on 21 December. A royal charter of 1069 mentions a grant to "the holy man of Bampton and the community", and an early 12th-century martyrology lists him as a confessor, while a 15th-century work names him as priest and martyr. His veneration at Bampton is recorded now and then until the Reformation, and parts of a reliquary, possibly from the 14th century, are kept in the north transept of the parish church.
