Who they were

St. Berengarius, monk of St. Papoul in Languedoc, was distinguished for the virtues of a good religious, but also for unusual spiritual gifts. He is said never to have slept in a bed, to have been extremely frugal in his meals and never to have used a horse or wagon when he travelled. For some time he taught the boys at the monastery; later he was appointed almoner and finally administrator of the temporalities of the house. His holy life was crowned by a holy death in 1093.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

A Benedictine Martyrology (1922) remembers him on 26 May.
