Bentivoglio de Bonis
Feast: 25 December (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Bentivoglia, of San Severino in the Marches, joined the Franciscans in St Francis's lifetime, and several of his relatives followed him. The records remember his charity, zeal and earnest preaching.
The Fioretti tell that the parish priest of San Severino joined the order after seeing him raised high above the ground in prayer, and that when ordered to move he carried a leper he was nursing fifteen miles on his back in a wonderfully short time. He died at San Severino on Christmas Day 1232.
