Who they were
At Maurienne in Savoy, Saint Ayraldus of Maurienne, bishop, who, both in the hermitage of Portes-en-Bugey and in the episcopal see of Maurienne, joined to a shepherd's prudence and wisdom the austerity and customs of the Carthusians.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 2 January as a Carthusian of Portes and bishop of Maurienne.
