Who they were

Anton Martin Slomšek was born on 26 November 1800 in the village of Slom, in the diocese of Lavant-Maribor. After studying theology he was ordained in 1824 and spent 22 years in zealous pastoral work.

As Bishop of Maribor he cared greatly for the Christian life of families and the formation of the clergy, and worked with all his strength for the unity of the Church. He died at Maribor on 24 September 1862.

The miracles

The Dicastery's biography does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

A bishop who bore rich fruit of holiness, culture and love of his people, and laboured for Christian unity.

The cause

Anton Martin Slomšek has been beatified; the cause continues. Favours received, and offers of help, go to the postulation, the office that carries the cause forward: Archdiocese of Maribor: the cause of Blessed Anton Martin Slomsek.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. Reporting one begins with the postulation.
