Andrés Jiménez Galera
Who they were
Andrés Jiménez Galera was born on 30 November 1904 at Rambla de Oria, in Almería province, Spain. Ordained a diocesan priest in 1926, he taught theology in the seminary of Almería before entering the Salesian Congregation in 1935, beginning his novitiate at Mohernando in Guadalajara province.
When the Spanish Civil War broke out in July 1936, the novitiate community was arrested; Andrés comforted his companions and urged trust in Providence, even offering his own life for theirs. On 27 July, as the prisoners were being transferred, militiamen ordered him to throw away the crucifix he carried; he refused, and was shot while praying aloud with arms outstretched and the crucifix in his hand.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
