Amazio di Reims
Feast: 4 November (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Saint Amanzio (also called Amando, Amantius, Amansius, Amance or Amand) was the third bishop of Reims, coming after Saint Sinnicio and before Imbetausio, who is recorded in 314. Tradition credits Saints Sisto and Sinnicio, considered the founders and first bishops of Reims, with evangelising the diocese's territory in the second half of the 3rd century.
There is no certainty about the dates of Amanzio's life or of his time as bishop, which is usually placed between the end of the 3rd century and the start of the 4th. He is named in an ancient episcopal catalogue of Reims used by Flodoard for his history of the church of Reims, and was buried in the church of San Sisto in Reims beside his two predecessors. His feast is kept on 4 November.
