Who they were
Amantius was a deacon who, according to the late and untrustworthy life of St Landoald, went with Landoald and others when Pope St Martin I sent them to help St Amand in his mission in what are now Belgium and Holland.
The party settled in the diocese of Maastricht, where Landoald made his base at Wintershoven.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
A deacon of the seventh-century mission of St Landoald.
