At Venegono near Varese, the passing of Blessed Alfredo Ildefonso Schuster, bishop, who, raised from abbot of Saint Paul's in Rome to the see of Milan, a man of wonderful wisdom and learning, carried out with great care the office of shepherd for the good of his people.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 30 August as the abbot of Saint Paul's in Rome who became a devoted bishop of Milan.
