Agustín de Revengy
Feast: 9 December (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Descended from an illustrious family, Blessed Agustín de Revenga became far more distinguished within the Order of Mercy for his work and religious virtue. At the convent of the Immaculate Conception in Alcalá, Spain, he was a noted doctor of sacred theology and served as rector of its college from 1545 until his death.
A great penitent, he fasted almost every day, abstained from meat his whole life, slept on the ground, spent much of the night in prayer and contemplation, and always wore a hairshirt. He died a holy death in 1569 and was buried in the church of that convent; the Order keeps his feast on 9 December.
