Agapius
Christian martyr
Feast: 21 November (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At Caesarea in Palestine, Saint Agapius, martyr: already subjected to torture several times, but always sent back for greater contests, according to tradition during the games of the amphitheatre he was thrown to a bear in the presence of Maximinus himself and, since he was still breathing, the next day he was drowned in the sea with stones tied to his feet.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 21 November as a martyr of Caesarea thrown to a bear and then drowned in the sea.
