Aemilianus of Durostoro
saint
Feast: 18 July (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At Silistra in Moesia, in present-day Bulgaria, Saint Aemilianus, martyr, who, disobeying the edicts of Julian the Apostate and the threats of his vicar Catulinus, overturned the altar of the idols, preventing the sacrifice, and, thrown into the furnace, received the palm of martyrdom.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 18 July as a martyr of Silistra who overturned the pagan altar under Julian the Apostate and was thrown into a furnace.
